TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY
TUESDAY, MAY 4, 2021

In a year of uncertainty and unrest, teachers have stepped to the forefront to ensure students and parents knew things would be ok. You have shown the fighting spirit that symbolizes our toughness when odds are against us – as they were much of this year.

Today, we celebrate the ordinary and extraordinary work teachers do every day, regardless of the situation. You show grace and compassion while giving students the tools to succeed and then inspiring them to do it. You are always there for your students and you let them know that by example.

To our veteran teachers, thank you for your commitment to our profession, even though many times you are not treated as a professional. Thank you for sharing your experiences with younger educators and leading by example. Thank you for putting your students first. Thank you for simply hanging in there – especially this year. Career teachers are getting harder to find.

To our younger or newer teachers, thank you for choosing the best profession in the world. This is your opportunity to work with tomorrow’s leaders today. Meet the challenge of engaging young minds daily. Embrace the chance to see lives changed with newfound knowledge and wisdom. Learn from the guidance and experiences of those who have been there before.

Know that the United School Employees of Pasco appreciate what you do for our students each day. We appreciate the personal sacrifices you have made to see students succeed.

To those of you who are members, thank you for supporting your professional organization as we endeavor to make positive change on your behalf. Thanks for choosing to be a member of a collective voice in protecting the contract we have today – a work of over 40+ years in the making.

To those of who have not yet come aboard, it is time to get off the sideline and into the game. The Legislature has made it clear they will not stop coming after Public Education unions and employees. We need you to join with us so together we can make a difference both in Tallahassee and here in Pasco at the Bargaining table. Talk to a member today and ask them the value of the contract, of having an advocate to speak on their behalf. Understand this – IF THE CONTRACT GOES AWAY, EVERYONE LOSES – MEMBER OR NOT! HELP US HELP YOU! Join with your professional organization today!

Thank you all for what you do each day!
