SRP Bargaining Update – Week of 7/15/2019

USEP SRP Bargaining Update

The USEP SRP bargaining team met with the district-team again (for the third time) on Monday, July 15, 2019 to continue discussions related to the 2019/ 2020 contract negotiations.  Below is a brief summary of what’s been proposed and/ or accomplished so far:

The following contact language proposals were signed off:

Article III – Union Rights

Section A, Implementation:  Both parties agree on language regarding the election process of the Transportation Safe Driver Plan Committee.

Article VII – Leave of Absence

Section B, Vacation Leave:  Both parties agreed to strengthen language to ensure members do not lose vacation time.

Article VII – Working Conditions

Section R, Relief Bus Drivers: Both parties agreed to strengthen language with adding language around Relief Bus Drivers and the selection process.

 

The following M.O. U’s were signed off:

FNS Safety Apparel – Both parties agreed to continue the Safety apparel program for the 2019-2020 year.

Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) 2019 – Both parties agree to language to support SFSP for the 2019 – 2020 year.

SRP Workplace Committee – Both parties agree this committee should continue with regards to recommending solutions to (SRP) workplace concerns.

FNS Training Compensation Proposal – Both parties agreed to continue the FNS Training Compensation program.  The program offers an incentive to employees who remain current with applicable topics in their respective departments and job responsibilities.

Maintenance Department Shirt Program – Both parties agreed to continue the Maintenance Shirt Program in an effort to continuously promote a professional appearance across the district with regards to maintenance staff.

Educational Paraprofessionals/ Instructional Assistance and Other eligible SRP Career Development Program – Both parties agree to continue program that gives monetary assistance to eligible college degree seeking SRP.

USEP 1st Opener Proposal –

Article VII (Working Conditions), section IX Safety and Health:

USEP has proposed language to add and strengthen current language regarding assault, battery and threats against SRP and/ or disability or death of an SRP.  The District has not responded to the proposal and will take back for review.

There have been no formal discussions over salary increases at this point – though the district maintains their position with regards to their agenda to put the most money possible in SRP pay increases for the 2019 – 2020 year.  These conversations will take place soon.
